July

This is our new home in California - not the best picture I know! We live in a great neighboorhood association that has 3 swimming pools and a large walking path. Nathan and I use them almost every day. Although there are some not-so-safe neighborhoods nearby, we feel pretty safe here.

Our trip to northern California - Rod had several days off at the end of July. So we made the 10 hr. drive to my parents' home in northern California. Rod was not completely thrilled to have his dental work done, but we still managed to have some fun. I got to see my little sister, Holly, and her new baby in Chico as well as my great aunt Miriam at her 90th birthday party - very memorable occasions!

The 4th of July at Newport Beach
My younger brother, Michael, visited us from BYU. Let's just say that spending the 4th of July at Newport Beach was a very interesting experience. Besides having to remind myself that we were not in the middle of an MTV beach party, my poor little brother got a corneal ulcer from surfing in the ocean - apparently there's a ton of bacteria in there! So we ended up spending the night in the ER instead of watching fireworks :)

Del Mar Beach (near San Diego)
One of Rod's fellow ER residents hosted a picnic at this beach. It was a great opportunity to meet the other residents and their families. Rod received free surfing lessons & Nathan joined in - - well as much as he could (as you can see in the photo below). Nathan has really enjoyed all of the swimming he's done this summer!
